The 8860 Gas Chromatograph (GC) System sets the standard for routine GC analysis

The 8860 Gas Chromatograph (GC) System sets the standard for routine GC analysis

Tested to Agilent quality standards, the 8860 offers the reliability and robustness you expect from Agilent. Configurable with up to two inlets, three valves, and three detectors, including a single quadrupole mass spectrometer, the 8860 addresses a wide range of routine GC application areas.

System description

The 8860 GC System features built-in intelligence that enables remote connectivity to allow you to monitor your GC system, check system logs, and make method changes outside of the laboratory. The intuitive touch screen interface offers you real-time instrument status information. Cost-effective options such as DA Express and electronic pneumatic regulation (EPR) make the 8860 an attractive option for any laboratory. Based on the core platform designs of the industry standard 7890 GC, the 8860 elevates routine GC analysis to new levels of performance, reliability, and cost effectiveness.

  • ● Advanced Instrument Intelligence functionality for diagnostics and maintenance can help lab managers better avoid unplanned downtime, minimizing costly operational surprises.
  • ● Color touch screen display provides access to GC setpoint and status information, configuration, and signal plot to confirm that analyses are progressing as intended.
  • ● Browser User Interface provides convenient access to extensive GC information from your PC or tablet. Edit methods and sequences and access advanced intelligence functions. See instrument status and run diagnostics from any place within reach of your lab network—even from home.
  • ● Blank run evaluation identifies and notifies the user for problems such as baseline excursions, unexpected peaks and elevated baselines. Detector evaluation can automatically evaluate detector checkout samples, providing summary reports in the diagnostic section.
  • ● Unique 6th-generation microchannel-based EPC architecture provides a significant improvement in reliability and longevity against gas contaminants such as particulates, water, and oils over previous generation Agilent GC designs, as well as other GC vendors’ designs.
  • ● Full 8860 electronic pneumatics control (EPC)—available on all inlets and detectors—ensures better repeatability of retention times and peak areas, more consistent results, and less rework.
  • ● Electronic Pneumatics Regulation (EPR) option provides simple manual operation with high-precision digital display of pressure/flow. Actual pressure and flow data can be recorded with Agilent OpenLab CDS software. EPR offers significant advantages over manual pneumatics systems.
  • ● 8860 EPC and EPR have ambient temperature and pressure compensation for more stable retention times and detector baselines.
  • ● Cost-saving advanced electronic pneumatic controllers such as Helium Conservation Module and Hydrogen Sensor can reduce the amount of helium used offering both flexibility and higher levels of safety in your laboratory.
  • ● Retention time locking (RTL), available with most Agilent OpenLab CDS software, provides the ability to precisely match chromatographic retention times in any GC system to those in another Agilent GC system with the same method and column.

  • ● Optional DA Express Data Analysis for 8860 GC is particularly well suited for users who do not require significant data processing or compliant software functionality. Simplifying data analysis, this innovative software makes it easy to perform integration, reporting, and calibration.
  • ● Autoranging FID provides a wide dynamic response range enhances accuracy and minimizes preparation requirements for samples that contain very high or very low compound concentrations.
  • ● Single filament TCD does not require a separate reference gas or manual potentiometer adjustment, and provides a stable baseline without drift.

Built-in GC Intelligence Enables Self-Aware Features and Remote Connectivity

GC Intelligence found in the Intuvo, 8890 and 8860 GC Systems offers new intelligent self-aware features and enables remote connectivity. Autonomous features provide predictive technologies to help avoid common GC problems before it affects chromatographic accuracy. Self-guided maintenance procedures offer step-by-step instructions on common maintenance procedures and remote connectivity allows users to access to the instrument from outside the lab.

Self Aware GC Features

Self Aware GC Features

Self-aware GC features enable a wide variety of diagnostic and maintenance items which prevent common GC problems. For example, autonomous diagnostic tests monitor the split vent flow and ensures the tank pressure is adequate. The GC intelligence also allows for the evaluation of a data file in terms of chromatographic attributes. Self-guided maintenance procedures offer step-by-step instructions on common maintenance procedures such as changing the septa or gold seal. These are just a few of the many features enables in Agilent’s smart GCs.

Remote Connectivity through the Browser Interface

The browser interface enables remote connectivity to the smart GC through a device that has a browser such as a desktop computer, laptop, or tablet. The browser interface gives you access to the same feature set of the instrument touchscreen such as editing GC methods and sequences without the need for a data system. Users can call up instrument status, run diagnostics, check maintenance logs, or view helpful service videos all from their mobile device. The reach of the browser interface is controlled through your secure laboratory network

On-Board Help and Information in One Central Location

The built-in help and information is customized for the touchscreen or browser interface and includes installation guides, user manuals, safety manuals, and site-prep documents. In getting started, users have access to tutorial videos and quick start guides. The GC maintenance section has easy to find instructions on everything from replacing the filter in the split vent line to replacing an FID Jet. Lastly, there is a single source for all online resources from the Agilent YouTube Channel to the Agilent Community.

Simplify Data Analysis on the 8860 GC System with DA Express

Designed for simple GC applications that do not require extensive data processing or compliance support, Agilent DA Express for an Agilent 8860 GC provides simplified data analysis, and makes it easy to integrate signal data, build calibration curves, and create result reports. Methods and Sequencing and DA Express are served up from 8860 GC and viewed on the Browser Interface. They are used to create and store GC methods and sequences directly on the GC. Methods and data are also saved on the 8860 GC and later copied to a computer.
